Talks and Public Speaking
Kari speaking at TEDx in her talk A Pocket Full of Wonder
Public Speaking
Kari is an inspiring and energetic public speaker, who takes her audience on highly-visual thrilling journeys from Arctic Greenland to the deserts of Oman. Her presentations are engaging, deeply personal, frank and inspiring. In Kari’s various talks, she speaks about her early childhood living with a tribe of Greenlandic Inuit in the most northerly settlement in the world; what it means to be an explorer; how to become a writer and the importance of developing a connection with nature. She also tells emotive, illuminating stories about strong, yet forgotten, women in polar history. All have an engaging, motivational edge and a powerful environmental message.
Kari frequently lectures at literary festivals and events and has spoken at TEDx and venues such as the Royal Geographical Society, the British Library, the Maritime Museum and the Explorers Club in New York, as well as at many schools and universities. Her most challenging talk, however, was given on board an expedition ship crossing the thirty-foot waves of the Drake Passage en route to the Antarctic, with tables, chairs and her audience sliding back and forth across the room!
